Peter Ritchie was a senior Police detective with 30 years service, most of which were spent in the investigation of serious criminal activity. In the early part of his career he was involved in all types of inquiries including numerous murder investigations. Following attachments to the serious crime squad and promotion he led a surveillance team in the Scottish Crime Squad in operations which involved specialised covert techniques.

He later became head of the National Criminal Intelligence Service Organised Crime unit in London. This was a unique concept at the time with officers being brought together from the Security Services, Customs and Excise, Police, Immigration and the Home Office. It was during this period that he travelled to many parts of the world building up a reputation as an expert in the field of international organised crime. His next position was as the U.K. Police liaison officer to the Europol office in The Hague, Netherlands where he spent 5 years working with senior officers from all the other European States. He coordinated and was involved in intelligence operations and information sharing against international organised crime and terrorism.

After a further period as head of a Drugs and Major Crime Unit in Scotland he was appointed as a Stabilisation Advisor for an intelligence project in the Republic of Croatia.

Peter has made regular appearances in the media and lectured in several countries on Serious Crime issues. He was the subject of a BBC radio programme 'A Life in Question'.
